Avery Chang (they/he) b. 1995: My focus is New Media Arts and Sculpture. My art exists in conversation with glitch artists and LGBT/Global Asian Activists. As a Chinese-Filipino transgender person, I enjoy reimaging queer futures utilizing abstract, sci-fi and fantastical elements. My works include trans bodies, creatures and abstractions, as well as reclaimed Asian mythology. I explore queer entities in otherworldly environments invoking curiosity and playfulness towards cryptids, creatures and othered bodies. One of my goals is to explore and reclaim the fear associated with otheredness.  I seek to do this with experiments with tactical materials environments, interactive video games and robotics, and experimental fabrication techniques.

In a time where technology is being continually weaponized for warfare and dehumanization, I want to reclaim technological advancement as a means for connection outside of predatory algorithms and face tracking criminalization.
